月桂酸(英文:Lauric acid),又稱為十二烷酸,是一種飽和脂肪酸。它的分子式是C12H24O2。雖然名為月桂酸,但在月桂油含量中只佔1-3%。想要補充月桂酸,可以選擇含量高的植物油椰子油,其含量高達45-52%。


根據臨床研究發現,月桂酸具有抗微生物的作用,也就是一種天然抗病毒或者天然抗生素效果:

此外,月桂酸可以明顯增加高密度膽固醇(HDL)的濃度,高密度膽固醇增加可以降低動脈硬化的風險:

如果想透過椰子油來保健,提醒大家不要隨便拿烹飪用的椰子油來直接飲用,最好可以選擇特級冷壓初榨椰子油(Extra Virgin coconut Oil,簡稱EVCO),此外,EVCO含豐富的中鏈三酸甘油脂(MCT,Medium-chain triglycerides),幫助吸收不良的人改善吸收、增加運動員的表現以及協助體重控制,甚至在失智症的改善,臨床上也有相關報告支持,建議大家可以多加留意。
